Chester Women’s Aid has the following aims:

To SUPPORT Women & families experiencing domestic abuse

To raise AWARENESS of domestic abuse

To MONITOR provision of services to women & families experiencing domestic abuse
As well as raising awareness of domestic abuse, fundraising and receiving donations for families experiencing domestic abuse, Chester Women's Aid support those who have been unable to access statutory sources of funding.
The donations that they receive go a long way and help towards many different things, including:

Redecorating a room where abuse has taken place, as unfortunately the family could not move away.

Clothes for families that arrived at refuge without a change of clothes.

School uniforms for children.

Driving lessons to help a person get employed.

Household goods where local government grant fell short of all items or items not eligible.
On average there are over 1,000 domestic abuse incidents per year reported to
the police in our local area – DA Partnership
In the Chester area, on average 400 high risk cases are dealt with
by multiple agencies working together to support the family – DA Partnership
Nationally 1 in 4 women and 1 in 6 men experience domestic abuse in their
lifetime - WAFE
1 in 5 teenagers have been physically abused by their boyfriends or girlfriends
– NSPCC
Domestic abuse is a factor in over half of serious case reviews 2011 to 2014 where a child has been seriously injured or has died – NSPCC
Two women are killed each week by their partner or ex-partner – WAFE (Women’s Aid Federation of England)
